Hailing from Washington Heights, , LIFEOFTHOM cuts a distinctive presence in the east coast hip-hop scene. Off the back of his single BANG ft. Slyy Cooper, Akinyeme earlier this year, a joint music video showcases the rawness and authenticity behind his artistic mindset. LIFEOFTHOM’s writing credentials and do-it-yourself attitude shines through as he ducks between verses “As I play with pro tools sipping tonic / Record interludes and hot topics / a fanatic author with a bright logic not diabolic”.

LIFEOFTHOM isn't just a performer; he's a multifaceted artist, embracing the roles of writer and producer. His music, described as “a journey of conscious introspection meeting subconscious ascension”, seeks to elevate common elements in hip-hop to experimental heights. This is most clear in his video for Sleepy Hollow, where as director THOM pairs a hazy and gritty visual aesthetic with a twitchy beat and vocals to match. There’s something about THOM’s music that feels both hyper-energetic and totally streamlined, a sign of good production ethos meeting MC skills fit for any track.

Your recent single and video for “HOSKINS” showcases a different musical and visual aesthetic. Can you share the inspiration behind this new release and how it represents your evolution as an artist?

It’s basically a turning point into my creative expression, by narrowing down what’s been working for me vs what’s not I was able to produce something and write something as valiant as HOSKINS. It’s truly a reflection of where I’ve come to amount to as an artist thus far.

You've opened for notable artists like Wyclef Jean and Taylor Bennett. How has being around legends of the scene influenced your performance style or your approach to music? And who is your dream to share the stage with?

Well it definitely influenced my approach to live shows seeing how professional these individuals were just rocking out though really how is what inspired me. To share a stage with Tyler the Creator would mean everything to me.

Being from Washington Heights, NYC, how important has this community been to the growth and development of your art?

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS THE BIGGEST HEIGHTS SO I MUST SET MY GOALS AND STANDARDS AT ITS HIGHEST FROM MY ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT TO LIFE DEVELOPMENT. MY NEIGHBORHOOD FULL OF DRUGGIES, CRIME BEAUTIFUL HISPANIC WOMEN AND LOTS OF JEWISH INDIVIDUALS AINT NOTHING LIKE WASHINGTON HEIGHTS

As a young artist in the evolving music industry, what are your aspirations for the future, and are there any upcoming projects that your fans should be excited about?

My aspirations for the future are only to curate a space for myself in where I am executing on the business front though keeping the art on its primary, I want to be able to be a powerhouse in the music industry. I aspire to tour the world endless of times, I aspire to rap on hot 97 and shade 45 I aspire to work with JID & Christo I aspire to sell all my merchandise to the WORLD. With that being said my album MICHAEL comes out 2024.
